Friends Executive Directors attend National Park Friends Alliance Fall Meeting

Giving Tuesday began with a simple idea: create a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. This year, we hope to inspire you to support the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, through Friends of the Apostle Islands.
These are challenging times for the park and for the quarter million people who visit every year, and yet we are determined to make a positive impact on the Lakeshore, its many visitors and the surrounding communities. The dust is now settling after the longest government shutdown in American history. And while there are many unanswered questions, what is clear is that the Lakeshore We Love needs you now more than ever. We look forward to working with incoming Superintendent BriAnna Weldon and her team in support of our four pillars: Accessibility, Education, Service and Stewardship.
In 2026, Friends will launch a long-term commitment and campaign for our Wave Watch boater safety program. We’re also partnering with the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce to present the Dark Sky Star Bright Festival in January, as part of our ongoing Starry Skies Initiative. And we’re looking forward to construction of the all-access path at Meyers Beach during the summer of 2026, as a major part of our Access for All project. With your help, the new year will bring new opportunities for park users and for Friends. Thank you in advance for your support on Giving Tuesday 2025 and every day.
