Share your adventure: Julian Bay after the storm

We love it when visitors to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore share their adventures, their photographs and their videos with us, so we can share them with you — especially now when the pandemic is limiting travel and activities for so many park lovers. This week, local sailors Erica and Mark departed Bayfield to explore Stockton Island and beyond. They ventured ashore to survey the damage from some recent storms and to enjoy some of the islands best natural features at Julian Bay, a favorite mooring spot for boaters. In the converse,...

Virtual Video Tour: Raspberry Island

Raspberry Island hosts one of six lighthouse stations in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. This one has been meticulously restored inside and out. It’s a regular stop for the tour boats and a must-see destination. The lighthouse building appears a lot like it was in 1906. It includes keeper’s quarters in one half and a wonderful museum in the other half. No tour of the museum is complete without climbing up the wooden staircase to see the view from the top of the lighthouse. You might even find a lighthouse keeper dressed in his uniform, ready and willing to tell you stories about what...

If you’ve ever visited the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore after dark, you know the night sky is simply breathtaking. And if you’re really lucky, you’ll see the Northern Lights dance. These are all great reasons why the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore could become the next dark sky park… making it that much more...
