Caring for our place on Gichigami

Even great ideas need a little wind in their sails. At Friends of the Apostle Islands, you have helped build boardwalks on Sand Island, rehabilitate the boathouse on Raspberry Island, and given hundreds of young people their first opportunity to experience the joys of sailing and kayaking. Keep the momentum going this Giving Tuesday, November 30th, 2021.

Begun in 2012, Giving Tuesday has become a global movement of inspiring people in over 80 countries to unleash the power of what organizers call “radical generosity.” In 2020, $2.47 billion was donated in twenty-four hours to nonprofits in the U.S. alone.

Help us be a part of that movement. Your Giving Tuesday donation to Friends of the Apostle Islands will:

  • Let a child go sailing and kayaking in the islands through our support of youth outreach programs like Island School.
  • Build boardwalk and accessible campsites so that everyone can enjoy the park.
  • Plant flowers at our historic lighthouses and beach grass to stabilize the greatest collection of fragile sandscapes on the entire Great Lakes.
  • Protect endangered species like the piping plover.
  • Fund Park projects that may otherwise go unfunded.
